Event Details

Equality is a key component of the Rule of Law. Despite this, a series of recent commissions, reviews and inquiries have made clear that the lived experience of many black Britons is significantly worse than the majority of the population. These issues manifest in numerous areas of life, but particularly in relation to immigration, education and criminal justice. As a result of the complexity of these challenges, Nuffield College and the Bingham Centre have established an interdisciplinary group of experts to consider approaches to advancing racial justice and equality from legal, historical and political perspectives.

The group has chosen to allocate discussion time to issues first in the compulsory education sector, followed by the higher education sector. There will then be a discussion that examines themes that emerge across the two sectors in order to encourage collaboration around shared challenges and to promote a holistic approach to 'wicked' problems in educational attainment, access and recruitment.

The meeting is a closed roundtable of experts. Speaker's names and affiliations will be released after the event.
