Atoosa Khatiri
Biography
Atoosa Khatiri is a Research Leader in Citizenship and the Rule of Law at the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law. She joined the Centre in April 2025. Atoosa leads the Public and Youth Engagement Programme and works across the Bingham Centre and BIICL teams to develop its citizenship and public legal education projects.
Atoosa is a PhD candidate at York Law School and the Centre for Applied Human Rights at the University of York. She also works part-time as an Associate Lecturer at York Law School. Her research interests include counter-terrorism and criminal law, at the intersection of human rights, the rule of law, and justice. She is a member of the York Together collective, and a trustee at the North East Law Centre.
Atoosa has over a decade of experience in the legal and charity sector, working across various areas of human rights, social welfare, and managing access to justice projects. She was awarded the Public Service & Human Rights Ansari Scholarship in 2022. She has also volunteered at a number of organisations including Liberty and the Anti-Trafficking and Labour Exploitation Unit.
