School Workshops
Public and Youth Engagement Hub
As part of our public and youth engagement programme, the Bingham Centre has delivered a range of workshops and interactive rule of law sessions with both primary and secondary schools.
Our Magna Carta programme runs sessions in collaboration with Temple Church, where the Magna Carta was first negotiated in the winter of 1215. The second part of the workshop consists of a lecture on the rule of law, a 'design your own Magna Carta' activity, and concludes with a careers in law talk.
In 2025-26 we collaborated with the Centre for Applied Human Rights, University of York, acting as a partner for the human rights clinical module on the LLM degree. We worked with a cohort of postgraduate students who undertook desk-based research and interviews on public legal education and citizenship education in the UK, particularly where it interacts with rule of law education, and how best to monitor and evaluate such initiatives.

Do you want to run sessions with us?
We are always looking to explore new collaborations with schools and other organisations that work with young people, so please do contact us at for more information.
We are always happy to tailor our workshops to suit the needs and interests of the student cohort and adjust the content and delivery accordingly for different student ages and group sizes.
What's covered?
Our philosophy is that we are teaching young people how to be active citizens, debate, and critically engage with the law. The substantive legal content of our sessions is secondary to those aims. Therefore, our workshops are highly interactive and adaptable to various formats. Indicative content from recent workshops includes:
- Social media and related rule of law topics
- Equality (including racial, gender and disability justice)
- International and domestic human rights
- Magna Carta and the rule of law
