The Rule of Law in the technological age
Event Details
We are living in an age of profound technological advancements, where artificial intelligence (AI) - the development of systems that simulate human intelligence - has increasing opportunities and the capacity to transform our public services, the economy, and areas such as medicine and education.
This event co-organised by the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law, re:constitution and RECONNECT will bring together leading experts from both academia and practice to discuss a series of important questions:
- What are the ethical boundaries to AI systems, which would shape the kind of society we want to live in?
- Are existing legal frameworks fit for purpose in the context of AI, and what are the legal boundaries to AI systems?
- What challenges and transformations are triggered by technological progress in relation to the Rule of Law and access to justice?
- How does scientific complexity and the increasing reliance on non-legal expertise and on private actors affect the nature of law-making and enforcement, including the task of judicial control and human rights protection?
