Katie Lines

Biography

Katie Lines joined the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law in January 2021. She is currently leading the Centre's work on the Independent Commission on UK Public Health Emergency Powers .

Katie's previous work at the Bingham Centre has included scrutinising proposals to repeal the Human Rights Act 1998 and working on the Rule of Law Monitoring of Legislation Project , the aim of which is a systematic analysis of all Government Bills to assess whether they comply with Rule of Law principles. Katie worked on this project as the Research Fellow in Rule of Law Monitoring of Coronavirus Legislation.

Before joining the Bingham Centre, Katie was a human rights lawyer with the civil liberties organisation Liberty, where she conducted strategic litigation and scrutinised legislation from a human rights perspective. Katie's background is as a public law barrister specialising in housing and homelessness.
