Katie Lines joined the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law as a Research Fellow in January 2021. Katie's work with the Centre initially focussed on the Rule of Law Monitoring of Legislation Project , the aim of which is a systematic analysis of all Government Bills to assess whether they comply with Rule of Law principles. She is now working with the RECONNECT research project on 'Reconciling Europe with its Citizens through Democracy and the Rule of Law', which has received funding from the EU's Horizon 2020 Research & Innovation programme.
Before joining the Bingham Centre, Katie worked as a lawyer with the civil liberties organisation Liberty, where she ran strategic litigation and scrutinised legislation from a human rights perspective. Katie's background is as a public law barrister specialising in housing and homelessness.
