Katie Lines joined the Bingham Centre for the Rule of Law as a Research Fellow in January 2021. Katie is currently working on the Bingham Centre's response to the Government's plans to repeal the Human Rights Act 1998 and replace it with a so-called "Bill of Rights". Before this, Katie's work with the Centre focussed on the Rule of Law Monitoring of Legislation Project, the aim of which is a systematic analysis of all Government Bills to assess whether they comply with Rule of Law principles. Katie worked on this project as the Research Fellow in Rule of Law Monitoring of Coronavirus Legislation.
Prior to joining the Bingham Centre, Katie was a human rights lawyer with the civil liberties organisation Liberty, where she ran strategic litigation and scrutinised legislation from a human rights perspective. Katie's background is as a public law barrister specialising in housing and homelessness.
