Europe

Our work on Europe includes the law of the European Union (EU), and other regional bodies such as the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

In this central programme of work, we explore, among other topics, the implications of Brexit for the Rule of Law and human rights as the UK seeks to adapt its legal system after withdrawal, the EU-UK trade relationship, Rule of Law backsliding by certain states in Central and Eastern Europe, the challenges of strengthening public and youth engagement with the Rule of Law and European institutions, and the regulation of artificial intelligence and other new technologies at European level.
